The Stepney Garage on Main Street (Route 25), slightly north of Judd Road, was a popular place to fill up the gas tank and get auto repairs when Monroe was still a mostly rural community.
This 1947 photo, below, was taken by Bob Haller, a longtime Monroe Historical Society member, and later donated to the society by his family. The building still stands today.
