Monroe parents of children eligible to start kindergarten this fall can attend a kindergarten registration gathering Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at Masuk High School. Under state law, to be eligible for kindergarten in the fall of 2013, a child must be at least 5 years old on or before Dec. 31, 2013.
Principals, teachers, and support staff will be part of the registration to acquaint or reacquaint parents with the kindergarten perspective. In the weeks following the orientation, individual appointments will be made at the child’s elementary school to complete the process.
The 90-minute orientation will include an informal welcome by School Supt. James C. Agostine, followed by breakout sessions by school, where parents can meet the staff and ask questions.
A packet of take-home information that parents need to start the registration process will be distributed.
The snow date is Feb. 12. Parents who cannot attend the orientation should contact their elementary school for information packets after the orientation program.
