Monroe Town Hall, the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library and Monroe Senior Center are closed Monday, Feb. 11 due to snow cleanup efforts and difficulties for employees to reach their workplaces, according to First Selectman Stephen J. Vavrek.

Also, School Supt. James Agostine announced schools will be closed Monday, Feb. 11 due to concerns about road safety and the possibility of freezing rain in the morning.

“We have had crews working throughout the storm and today as well,” Agostine said in a message posted on the school system’s website early Sunday evening. “We brought in bucket loaders to clear parking areas, and that work is ongoing. I have been informed that all roads are open but some are narrow and sight lines are poor.

“I have just been informed by our weather consultant,” Agostine continued, “that we can expect freezing rain in the morning. In the interest of safety, school is canceled for Monday, Feb. 11. Offices will open at 11 a.m.”
