On Sunday, Boy Scouts in Monroe-based Troop 163 challenged each other to go out and clear snow away from fire hydrants. State and municipal officials had urged people to clear hydrants near their homes as a public safety measure, after the heavy snowfall.
Some locations where the local Scouts cleared fire hydrants were Boot Shop Lane, Blanket Meadow Road, Elm Street, Fan Hill Road, Field Rock Road, Forest Road, Hattertown Road, Jockey Hollow Road, Lazy Brook Road, Pepper Street, Spinning Wheel Road, Wells Road and West Maiden Lane.
Troop 163 is based at St. Jude Parish.
