After multiple postponements due to the weather, the CIAC Class L boys and girls indoor track championship was held last Friday.
Masuk’s Theresa Saia repeated as state champion, when she took home the gold medal in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.28 seconds.
At the time of publication, she ranked No. 1 in the state. Megan Tynan and Abbey Saia also medaled at fifth- and sixth-place, as Masuk won three of the six medals in the event.
The 4×200 relay had opened the meet with an outstanding time of 1:47.68. Theresa Saia and Tynan were joined by Kasey Moraveck and Ashley Russo, as they raced to the silver medal. Darien won the event, setting a state record. Theresa Saia finished the day with a third place in the 300 and Moraveck placed sixth in the 55 hurdles.
Jake Duckworth paced the Masuk boys with a silver medal in the 1600 and a sixth place in the 3200. His 1600 time of 4:32.34 set a new Masuk record. Anthony Piscitelli placed sixth in the high jump to round out the Masuk scoring.
