On Feb. 14, Megan FitzGerald (left) and Emily Montgomery signed their National Letters of Intents to play Division I college soccer.
FitzGerald is headed to Fordham University and Montgomery to Sacred Heart University. Both girls played together at U11 for the town of Monroe then went to separate premier clubs.
They came back together in high school at Masuk and helped the Panthers to the Class L state final this year. Montgomery, a captain, finished with 20 career goals and 33 career assists.
A three-year varsity member, two-year starter, All-State and All-SWC first-team selection, she will join former teammate Dana Cosmedy at Sacred Heart. FitzGerald, also a captain, finished her career with a 28-7-3 record — including 19 shutouts and only 20 goals against.
The goalkeeper, an SWC All-Colonial Division selection and four-year varsity member, will attend Fordham University, the school her grandfather graduated from in 1960.
