The Monroe Courier is a weekly newspaper, established in 1962 to provide the residents of Monroe, Conn. with relevant news, opinions and advertisements.
Today, The Courier is a hyper-local publication, covering the town’s government, schools, nonprofits, businesses and locally-based organizations.
Fueled by a passion to serve the Monroe community, the paper additionally highlights residents’ accomplishments and ambitions through human interest stories covering a wide array of personalities and topics.
A modern-day media source, The Monroe Courier also runs a website, updated daily as town news breaks. In addition, the paper engages with community members via social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Google+.

The Courier is part of Hersam Acorn Newspapers. Kait Shea, Editor
Kait Shea took on her role as editor of the Monroe Courier in February 2014. Prior to that she served as assistant editor for a year and a half at one of the Courier’s sister papers, the Greenwich Post. Her introduction to journalism came in 2007, when she became a general assignment reporter for the Bristol Press.
Shea graduated from Providence College in 2007. In October of that year she took her first post collegiate job at the Press. Following her time in that position, she lived in New York City for three years before returning to Connecticut, and journalism, in 2012.

Mike Suppe, Sports Editor
Michael Suppe became an editor at Hersam Acorn in 2006. He covers sports in the towns of Ansonia, Derby, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Seymour, Shelton, Stratford and Trumbull. He has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from the University of Connecticut.
