The headstone of Betsey Sherman, who died at the age of five in 1794, is the oldest surviving cemetery stone in Stepney Cemetery, also marking the site’s oldest recorded death. Betsey’s death will be commemorated on May 18 in conjunction with the Stepney Task Force’s veterans cemetery tour.
