Photo from Monroe’s past: Fence-sitting a century ago at Monroe’s Oak Farm

The 1915 photo below shows two girls from the Jacot family and their dog posing on a fence in front of their home, known as Oak Farm, at the corner of Monroe Turnpike and Hammertown Road.

The oak tree with the sign on it came down during a recent snowstorm, but the fence remains on the property. The photo is from an album given to the Monroe Historical Society by the Jacot family.
