Police log: Jan. 2-7

The Monroe Police Department responded to 26 alarms, 18 medical emergencies and two 911 unknown call between Jan. 2 and 7.

Tuesday, Jan. 2

7:35 a.m. — The owner of Prushkos Service Shell, off Route 111, reported that someone vandalized his property sometime overnight. He filed no formal complaint, said police, only letting law enforcement know that someone had thrown eggs at his building.

9:44 a.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Route 25 and Pepper Street North. Only minor injuries were reported.

2:14 p.m. — Police responded to a three-vehicle accident on Route 111. No injuries were reported.

7:30 p.m. — Joseph Peters, 44, of Woody Crest Road, faces charges after having a physical altercation with his mother. Peters was arrested for disorderly conduct, third-degree assault of an elderly person and fourth-degree criminal mischief for the incident at the home he shares with his mother. Peters failed to post a $1,000 bond, appeared in Bridgeport Superior Court to answer the charges that day and remained incarcerated as of Monday afternoon, according to police.

Wednesday, Jan. 3

8:38 a.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Route 25. No injuries weren reported.

Thursday, Jan. 4

10:26 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle backing into a truck on Jeanette Street and Route 111 and leaving the scene. Officers later found the vehicle, said police. No injuries were reported. The driver whose vehicle struck the truck was cited for unsafe backing.

12:08 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Hattertown Road and Mountainside Drive. No injuries were reported.

Friday, Jan. 5

6:26 a.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle accident that shut down both lanes of traffic on Route 34. Minor injuries were reported. The road was closed for nearly an hour and a half.

5:25 p.m. — Police responded to a minor two-vehicle accident on Route 110. No injuries were reported.

Saturday, Jan. 6

10:10 a.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Pepper Street. No injuries were reported.

4:22 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Walnut Street near the Shelton town line. No injuries were reported.

6:24 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle off the road in a snowbank on Riding Ridge Road. No injuries were reported, said police, and a tow truck was brought on-scene to pull the vehicle out of the snowbank.

Sunday, Jan. 7

10:20 a.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the parking lot at Duchess Family Restaurant on Route 25. No injuries were reported.

3:45 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the parking lot at Cumberland Farms off Route 25. No injuries were reported.

4:15 p.m. — An employee at El Coyote off Route 25 reported that the driver’s-side window of her vehicle was smashed while she was inside the business. Police said there were no witnesses. The incident remains under investigation.

6:21 p.m. — Laurie Greene, 48, of Bridgeport, was arrested on a warrant charging her with illegal cultivation of marijuana stemming from an incident on Nov. 6. Police responded to a call at the Maple Drive home at which Greene lived at the time on an unrelated call, when officers saw a marijuana plant growing on the premises. Monroe police then obtained the warrant for her arrest. She was picked up by Norwalk police and taken to Monroe police headquarters. Greene posted a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Jan. 17.
