Board of Ed to hold reception for Zamary

The Board of Education will host a reception on Feb. 20 to welcome Assistant Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jack Zamary to his new post as school superintendent.

Zamary was named superintendent of schools, to begin July 1 for the retiring interim school Superintendent John Battista. All are welcome at the reception, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Masuk High School library.

Zamary has been part of the central office leadership team since 2012 and currently serves as the assistant superintendent of schools. Previously, Zamary had worked in Newtown and Regional School District 15 as a teacher, director of the arts, and principal.

During his time in education leadership, Zamary has come to be widely known as a leader who communicates and collaborates with the staff to improve instruction and brings new and innovative ideas to the district.

Dr. Zamary has a bachelor’s degree and master degree of music education from the University of CT, a sixth year in educational leadership, and doctorate in educational leadership from Southern Connecticut State University.
