Two local men face sex assault charges

Two Monroe men face a host of charges in connection with the sexual assault of a minor in November, according to police.

Brian Werle

Brian Werle, 20, of Turkey Roost Road, and Wyatt Palin, 19, of Grist Mill Road, were each arrested today on a warrant for first-degree sexual assault; conspiracy to commit first-degree sexual assault; first-degree unlawful restraint; conspiracy to commit unlawful restraint; third-degree assault; and conspiracy to commit third-degree assault.

Police said Werle and Palin sexually assaulted a juvenile victim at Werle’s home on Nov. 25, 2017. According to police, the juvenile victim, with the support of family and friends, came forward two days after the alleged incident to report the details to the Monroe Police Department.

Wyatt Palin

Police said the department opened an investigation into the allegations, which resulted in these arrests. These investigations are exceptionally hard on victims, according to police, due to the sensitive nature of the crimes.

Both Werle and Palin were released after each posted a $50,000 bond. Werle will be arraigned at Bridgeport Superior Court on March 16. Palin will be arraigned at Bridgeport Superior Court on March 12.
