Police: Man suffered ‘life-threatening’ gunshot wound

A man is fighting for his life at this hour after suffering a gunshot wound while at Stevenson Dam at around 5:30 p.m. today.

Monroe Police Capt. Keith White told The Monroe Courier that an individual who was observing wildlife at the small area below the dam called police at 5:26 p.m. to report hearing a gunshot. When police arrived, White said officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital with what White termed “life threatening” injuries.

“There is no indication of foul play,” said White. “The incident remains under investigation.”
